Kim Clijsters wins US Open for the third time

Kim Clijsters has won her third title at the US Open. In the final there was no holding the Belgian, clearly an unrivaled match for Vera Zvonareva. Kim allowed the Russian only three games.

After the match a visibly moved Kim took her time to address the audience. She thanked the spectators, her team and her family for all the support. She also mentioned the events of 9/11, nine years ago to the day. "Nine years ago the world changed. I'm honoured to have been playing here before you and try and offer you some distraction," she said.
