Associate Director Middle East


JOB SUMMARY
A great opportunity to join a leading global investment management firm and be part of an expanding t eam. The primary function of the successful candidate would be to continue to grow firm’s footprint in the Middle East.
The Associate Director would be responsible for communicating performance and other investment information to their portfolio of institutional clients and developing client relationships to build business. The emphasis is on protecting client revenue, but equally importantly on expanding each client relationship across a broad range of services – funds management, customized portfolios solutions and OCIO/fiduciary management.
FUNCTION INFORMATION
Your Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory & Business conduct:
    • Display exemplary conduct and live by our organizations Code of Conduct.
    • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct across the business.
    • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance

  • Business Development:
    • Develop new business across the firm’s services from existing clients.
    • Support the efforts across the Middle East business to protect revenue and grow the business across a range of services
    • Promote firms range of services and solutions to professional investors, with a focus on identifying both AUM and Implementation Service opportunities.
    • Effectively servicing current clients in the Middle East
    • Develop firms proposition and presence in the Middle East Institutional market.

  • Client Retention:
    • Retention of existing client AUM and revenue
    • Communicate with a portfolio of Institutional clients on all aspects of their relationship with the firm.
    • Build strong relationships with clients through regular meetings and social events

  • Business Strategy:
    • Client strategy and business planning to retain and build new revenue. Lead and assist on project work to further develop business opportunities

  • Team strategy
    • Work as an effective team member in conjunction with colleagues based in other countries (Dubai, London)
    • Develop more junior team members
    • Act as a mentor to junior members of the team


REQUIREMENTS
Your Profile:
  • Candidates who are studying or intending to study for CFA (or other finance related professional qualifications) will be preferred.
  • Relevant BSC/BA (Mathematics / Economics or similar) or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in the financial services/investment industry of which significant experience will be in Institutional industry (Pension Funds and SWFs).
  • Experience with managing a broad range of clients. Wide range of exposure to various client types such as Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Asset Managers, Private Banks, Stock Exchanges etc
  • Broad knowledge of the SWF, Government Agency and Pensions Industry in the Middle East.
  • Arabic speaker - preferable

Competencies:
  • The ability to communicate effectively and knowledgeably with both colleagues and prospective clients.
  • Highly polished communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • A close working knowledge of the practical needs and experiences of SWF, Government Agency and Pensions Industry in the Middle East
  • Good knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes, with the ability to articulate investment processes knowledgeably and credibly
  • Commitment to professional excellence and capable of exercising professional judgement
  • Builds working partnerships across the business and clients
  • Anticipates and considers in advance the concerns and issues that are most important to others
  • Uses a variety of approaches to gain cooperation, overcome barriers, or gains agreement for proposals and ideas
  • Uncovers and meets the needs of both the internal and external clients;
  • Maintains regular contact and builds strong working partnerships with clients and suppliers
