SQL Database Engineer - Dubai (UAE)

We are currently recruiting SQL Database Engineer for our leading Banking client. The Database Engineers will play a key role in databases engineering function within Emirates NBD Group; this includes MS SQL, PGSQL and MySQL DBs. While managing the day-to-day operational activities is not expected here, this role will be accountable for the overall platform operational stability; by working with the platform owner, architects and Senior Engineers, to deliver the agreed product roadmap that guarantees the product operational efficiency.
*This Job posting is 12 Months (extendable) contract position in Dubai, UAE*
Roles and responsibilities:
- Maintain the product backlog that require to be addressed on quarterly basis.
- Drive backlog projects to completion.
- Continuous R&D and vendor engagement.
- Automate the installation to achieve Zero touch unattended deployment.
- Review all housekeeping activities and identify key processes that should be automated.
- Design solutions that cater for enhancing the operational stability.
- Address Problem tickets, Risk and Audit items in the products backlog
Knowledge / Skills:
- The candidate should have 5 years of relevant experience at a technical position in large organization.
- He/ She should have strong technical knowledge of MSSQL 2016 and higher
- He/ She should have strong experience with performance tuning & optimization.
- He/ She should have strong experience in designing & developing HA solutions like Clustering, Always on AGs, Replication, Mirroring.
- He/ She should have experience in designing & developing database solutions for different application requirements.
- He/ She should have experience in large scale migration & upgrade of MS SQL workload
- He/ She should have strong experience in automation & configuration/deployment management tools like Jenkins, Ansible.
- He/ She should be proficient with Python or other relevant scripting languages
- He/ She should be familiar with agile tools (Jira) & version control concepts (Github)
- He/ She should be pPro-actively stay current with latest technologies and industry best practices associated to the position through self-learning and R&D
Cloud services like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure - He/ She should have good understanding of Agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum.
Experience & Certification:
Bachelor's in Computer Science or Equivalent with relevant Certification
