Yard Operations Manager

This role is for a permanent placement based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Job Summary: As Yard Operations Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the efficient operations of the yard or terminal facility. You will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods, vehicles, and equipment within the yard to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day activities in the yard to ensure smooth operations and efficient use of resources.
- Coordinating the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring accurate documentation, and organizing shipments for timely deliveries.
- Planning and scheduling maintenance for yard equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, and other machinery, to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Implementing and enforcing safety protocols to create a secure work environment and adhere to industry regulations.
- Leading and supervising yard staff, providing training, performance evaluations, and addressing any employee-related issues.
- Monitoring expenses related to yard operations and finding ways to optimize costs without compromising efficiency.
- Generating reports on yard activities, inventory levels, and performance metrics, and maintaining accurate records.
- Identifying and collaborating to resolve operational challenges, such as delays, equipment malfunctions, or inventory discrepancies.
- Ensuring excellent customer service when dealing with clients, carriers, or suppliers, and addressing any customer concerns or inquiries.
- Coordinating with other departments, such as transportation and procurement, to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices, and optimizing yard operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in yard operations or terminal management within the logistics industry
- Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes, including inventory management and transportation operations
- Familiarity with safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in the logistics industry
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on motivating and developing a high-performing workforce.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using yard management systems, inventory management software, and other relevant tools.
