Eligibility

Full-time employees are entitled to 30 calendar days of annual leave for each year of service. However, there are specific conditions and nuances to be aware of:

During Probation: As per UAE labor law, employees are not eligible for annual leave during the probation period. Nonetheless, annual leave may be granted at the discretion of the employer during this time.

Service Term Between 6 Months and 1 Year: Employees whose service term is more than 6 months but less than a year are entitled to annual leave calculated at the rate of 2 calendar days for each month of service.

PART-TIME EMPLOYEES

Eligibility

Part-time employees’ are entitled to an annual leave according to the actual working hours the employee spends working for the employer in such period shall be defined in the employment contract.

CARRY FORWARD OF ANNUAL LEAVES

Employees have the option to carry forward not more than half of their annual leave to the following year. Alternatively, employees may agree with their employer to receive a cash allowance in lieu of the unused leave days. The cash allowance is calculated based on the wage the employee receives at the time of their entitlement to the leave.

CALCULATION OF ANNUAL LEAVES AT END OF SERVICE

If an employee’s service ends, they are entitled to a cash allowance for any remaining legally due annual leave. This allowance is based on the employee’s basic salary.
